About the Books

Coming Home: Poetry of the Spirit begins an extraordinary poetic trilogy. It follows poet Ajit Sripad Rao Nalkur’s voyage back to his birthplace—the magnificent nation of India— and his travels throughout Australia, Europe and the United States.

This rich volume is composed of poetry that explores and celebrates the sweetness of love, the miracle of life eternal, relationships and the need to be true to oneself. Ultimately Nalkur’s work captures the moments and emotions that give life its beauty and grace.

From author Ajit Sripad Rao Nalkur comes Dream Threshold, the second volume in a poetic trilogy on love, following Coming Home, which describes poet Ajit Sripad Rao Nalkur’s spiritual journey back to India from the West. His time abroad included living, working, and travelling through Australia, Europe, and the United States.

This memorable collection characterizes the poet’s gaze into the future of his search for the beloved. The poetry in this volume covers such topics as the pureness of rain in paradise and an examination of what love is really all about. In Dream Threshold, Nalkur continues to explore the theme of relationships and the need to be true to oneself.

This compilation is divided into three parts. “The Vision” contains poems he wrote in Australia during the early 1990s, and takes a narrative form, with much of the work appearing in prose and offering the poet’s visionary experience of love. Part two is titled “Love on Earth,” addressing the realization and actualization of that love. The third and final part of the book, “Poet’s Corner,” contains verses ruminating on the art of poetry itself.

Love’s Story explores true love in all its aspects, and considers the realization and attainment of such a dream on Earth.

Doors to Paradise: Poems for the Soul is Ajit Sripad Rao Nalkur’s fourth book of poetry. It follows his previously published trilogy on love. His poems are an invitation for our souls to discover what lies behind each door we encounter in life. The author experienced intense joy, peace, and freedom as he wrote these poems—emotions he hopes to share with all.

The poems in this collection are arranged in chronological order and written in various rhyming styles. The poems were created as spontaneous outbursts of the soul, and in the reading of them, the author hopes that the reader’s heart will similarly open and receive the emotions they convey.

Like doorways into the author’s soul, Doors to Paradise: Poems for the Soul reflects the peace and contentment in his life now.

The beauty of nature surrounds us, but its beauty is often wasted as we rush through lives filled with work, family, and other responsibilities. What if we were to slow down for a moment and take a look around? What would we notice; what would we learn? Surely, more than we could have imagined.

Poet Ajit Sripad Rao Nalkur admires the wilderness around him, while living in southern India. His words bridge the gap between the human world and the world of nature, where small details speak volumes and inspire peace. He writes not only of nature’s majesty but also of our connection to it—a connection we can choose to ignore or embrace.

In this collection, an artist seeks and waits for his muse. Little things bring great joy, like a single wildflower or the serene power of silence. Nalkur’s words reach beyond the page and into the reader’s innermost being, challenging each of us to emotionally connect with nature. These poems offer Flowers from the Heart, Songs of the Soul to remind us all to slow down and admire the miracle that is life on Earth.

Letters to the Muse. Everyone has experienced love in one form or another in his or her life, yet we seem to know so little about this all-important emotion that we hunger for and are rarely completely satisfied with. In this romantic collection, through “letters” to the muse, poet Nalkur attempts to bring us closer to the fulfillment of our human urges by chasing the holy grail of true love.

These poems are the survivors of a long relationship with the muse, alive and breathing in Nalkur’s heart and soul. This collection in particular focuses entirely, directly and indirectly, on the muse as an entity. It is the poet’s gift to her—or perhaps, more precisely, her gift to the poet. Maybe, even more so, the poems are a gift to the seeking reader.

Time matures a poet, which implies a spiritual growth as well as literary maturity. With poetic satisfaction, Nalkur’s words lift us heavenward on the wings of true love. Whether through down-to-earth conversations with the muse as nature or by lifting her up as a powerful goddess, follow this inspiring and dream-like depiction of the Muse of Love!

In this poetry collection Letters to the Muse II, his seventh—and second of a possible trilogy—Ajit Sripad Rao Nalkur continues to narrate the story of his love affair with the Muse, focusing on her and the effect she has on his world. Letters to the Muse II: The Return of Love flows on from the previous collection of the same title and is arranged chronologically to preserve continuity of the underlying story.

His subjects are the poor and simple folk of the city and countryside. His love for humanity inspires the simplistic approach he chases throughout his life in writing.

This is a peaceful collection that delves into the mysterious realms of love between dream and reality, seeking to achieve the fusion of the two worlds with poetic force and expression.

A mesmerizing journey into the depths of love, Letters to the Muse III offers the very real possibility of realizing true love on earth, while retaining love’s beautiful mystery. This collection is both personal and impersonal in its approach to the poetic muse. The personal poems describe how she appears to Nalkur in real life, while the impersonal poems delve into the deeper and higher aspects of her personality.
